The Angkor Photography festival
The Angkor Photography festival just finished in Siem Reap
The Angkor Photography festival just finished in Siem Reap, but the arty farties are now heading to Phnom Penh for the capital’s own picture fest. The crumbling French mansion on Sothearos Boulevard is set to be the nerve centre of Phnom Penh Photo – which is on from November 28 until Dec 8. How picturesque (pun intended).
Back in Siem Reap, although the festival is over, the town’s father of photography, John McDermott, is hosting some of the participating photographers at his exhibition space McDermott Gallery 2 until January 15 2009. Images by Sohrab Hura, Munem Wasif and James Whitlow Delano will be on show in the pretty white-walled gallery opposite Linga Bar.
Stop into Aha Café for lunch afterwards, or ask to see the hotel room adorned with McDermott’s own photography inside the Be Hotel. McDermott Gallery 2, The Passage, near The Old Market, +855 92 668181, www.mcdermottgallery.com
