Travel Tip:
Anything you have with you upon boarding the plan that won't fit easily in the overhead compartment and that will impede your travel through the airplane should be gate checked. It's safe, and by the time the airline lets you off its airplane your bags will generally be waiting. DO NOT put your bags under the seat. You lose valuable leg room and won't be able to move your legs around during the flight.

Insider's Tip:
Only 3G mobile phones work in Japan so leave yours in your suitcase and rent one on arrival at the airport or the hotel. Refrain from talking on a mobile in the train.

Best Eats:
Go for a healthy and fresh (handmade right in front of you) conveyor belt sushi restaurant near the Tsukiji Fish Market. It’s just 15 minutes from the Mercure Hotel in the fashionable Ginza shopping district

Cool Hangout:
Take a one-hour train trip with the Enoshima-Kamakura Free Pass to see the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and the Big Buddha in Kamakura, then finish your journey on the seaside at Enoshima.
