OPERATION SUNSHINE

More than one year on from the floods that devastated the region, Queensland continues to rebuild.

In a bid to revive the flood-and cyclone-ravaged tourism industry, Australian Cricket Legend Matthew Hayden travelled to some of the areas hardest hit by the floods.

Operation Sunshine, a joint initiative of Jetstar and Matthew Hayden, is committed to helping bring tourism back to Queensland.

"The goal of Operation Sunshine is to assist and support the people of Queensland still enduring hardship personally and economically following the recent tragic events," said Hayden, AM.

At a series of events around Queensland, Hayden presented AU$250,000 in grants to local communities and sporting groups, while Jetstar provided free flights to hundreds of affected families. With the goal of bringing some sunshine back into the many devastated areas of Queensland, Jetstar announced the giveaway to aid the rebuilding of local tourism.

Jetstar remains committed to the people of Queensland, and hopes to bring more tourism to the areas hardest hit, as the rebuild and recovery continues.
